The Green Valley Cyclists club has been a long-standing supporter of its members' social lives, both during rides and at social events. The club actively encourages and fosters social gatherings, from coffee after a ride to a family-friendly summer picnic.
To support the social aspect of the club, Green Valley Cyclists sponsors several special events. These '
Special Events' are social events that are primarily funded by membership dues, but they may also be supported by a club sponsor or a generous member. The goal is to make these special events affordable or free for club members and their families.
Some of the club's traditional special events include:
- Monthly Breakfast Rides: Following a group ride, the club provides free coffee and snacks. Sometimes, these are scheduled as pizza rides, which is a New Year's Day favorite.
- Summer Picnic: On a Saturday in late summer or early fall, the club hosts a large picnic. The club provides burgers, hot dogs, and beverages, and attendees bring potluck side dishes and desserts.
- Winter Celebration Dinner: In late winter, the club hosts a dinner and awards ceremony to celebrate club leaders. This event gets better every year!
Keep an eye on the GVCyclists calendar for other special events that are still being planned.
